wlorton, That's what I did, just put a K&N filter on it (or I see yours comes with one). Didn't really notice much of a gain, (which I expected, hence why I wanted to spend less than 100 bucks, 300 bucks for 7 hp seemed a little steep).

Nathan Yeah, my heat shield heats up pretty good, but I can put and hold my hand on my intake tube, which before I built my heatshield, I burned my hand on that same tube! lol.

hey i have the K&N on my 01 blazer it picked it up a little bit but i would try to make one or buy one used than spen the 300 plus on it new if you add a throttle body spacer on it it pickes the mid range up pretty good.

haha alright thanks oktain, ya the tube defiantly doesn't get as hot with the shield
