Rattle in my cataylic converter
#11
i was wondering since the emission controls in my country is not strict,is it possible to remove the cat completely or would it cause the engine light to come on and or can i cut it open to remove the stuff thats causing the rattling noise & reweld it again.thanx

It likely will result in a check engine light without reprogramming the PCM to remove those codes. Of course that depends on what you are driving...

You can also get a spark plug anti fouler and drill it out (1/2 inch bit) screw o2 sensor on it and screw it into exhaust pipe. Takes the sensor out of direct exhaust flow...Off road only of course

ok
Get a pack of them in the help section of your auto parts store....the 2 inch long ones. Use a 1/2 inch drill bit and drill out the center, this makes room for the o2 sensor. Try one first....you may need to stack them or use 2 of them. No more 420 code......off road use only

when my cat started rattling i just bought a new one from summit. 75 bucks for a magnaflow and another 100 to install it. pretty cheap if you ask me. i probably should have gone the other route and just put a straight pipe in there with the anti foulers but i have to pass emmissions over here and sometimes they stick a hose over your exhaust to measure that crap.

mine has back fired, rattled inside the exhaust, i kicked it and bent it in now its fine...I did find a vaccuum hose unpluged in the upper drivers side! short hose bout 6-7 inches sucking air in, cant find where it goes its attached to three other hoses that are hooked else where, but this one have no clue where it should be plugged into??? put a screw in the end of that hose and the motor idles down a few notches!!! I replaced wires and plugs it seems not to be missing any more and when it first starts up it dont put and spit, its running on all cylinders now..This hose is going to bother me, suck air in or not?
