Time to replace my cat
#11
Not jealous at all. I could have done it cheaper with a bolt on cat and had it back to performing to spec as well as scrubbing the exhaust.
For anyone in the US that thinks they can do something like this... Just because you do not have emissions testing in your area (ie. tail pipe sniffer), it is a federal crime to remove a catalytic converter and/or bypass any emissions monitoring devices. I'm not saying that it can not be done because we all know it can, but be careful.
With the ever increasing governmental pressures to reduce tail pipe emissions, and the stiff penalties for violators of the laws that are in place (several thousand dollars if you remove your catalytic converter), sooner or later it will catch up.

I'm driving catless in the states, but all the older carsin town are the same way. My town has a lot of good garage mechanics to do that for you. No emissions testing.I don't much like the sound though. My muffler was shot and after 135,000 miles, so was my cat. I didn't have time to shop for a muffler, so i'm driving catless with an OM muffler. I don't like the sound, too "boaty" for me. With my mileage, i'm considering a header-back system, no cat, and glass pack. Any reccomendations where to get good headers or a glass pack and a ballpark price would be greatly appreciated. My blazer is my baby, and i want her to sound nice again. Thanks!

Im pretty sure as posted before, if you don't want to spend any money on the cat and dont mind factory replacement, it should be warrantied for life.

I think the warranty is up after 5 years for the cat... Something about finding the "average life span" of a vehicle, or how long the first owner has it...
