I am looking to find out if there is a tach wire at the cluster of my analog dash or do I need to go thru the firewall to the coil? I know the digital clusters have a tach wire so can it be that easy on the analog's?

Here's a link to the tach wire for analog dashes.

will someone please help with Tach? - S-10 Forum

Just finished the install of the tach and everything is working as should be. Make sure you look at the wires carefully, there is a white and thin black stripe wire in the same harness. You are looking for the all white wire.
