High Beam Doesn't work

The ground circuits are switched in the multifunction switch. Ground is ultimately supplied by the BCM, (Body Control Module). Driver and passenger side high beams use the same ground path. If the passenger side works, the purple wire has an open circuit somewhere between the splice inside the underhood fuse panel and the driver high beam socket.

The headlamps have separate fuses for left & right. Each fuse protects the respective high and low beam filaments. If both low beams work, both fuses are OK. The purple, (high beam ground) wires exit the underhood fuse panel and run seperately to each high beam socket. The one that runs to the left high beam has an open circuit somewhere. You can do one of two things: Locate and repair the open circuit, or, run a jumper wire between the purple wires at each high beam socket. The open circuit could very well be inside the underhood fuse panel. Sounds crazy but, yes, the ground wires connect inside the fuse panel. Post your results

Captain I just want to tell you thanks for your help. You are a wealth of knowledge and we appreciate it.
So the jumper wire worked and both high beams work now. My question now is, is it ok to leave that jumper connected or should I find out where the ground problem actually is and fix it that way?

The problem is an open circuit in the purple wire: The light doesn't care where you fixed it. If you're OK with running a jumper wire, you're done If not, trace it down.

I just went through a similar problem; changed the hi beam/running light bulb, only to find the bulb still won't work on hi beam. It works as a running light though (driver's side). Came here trying to find a solution.

Headlamps use relays on the ground side and can be time consuming to find the problem. It would be best to start a new thread describing the symptoms and we can help you find and fix it.
