yeah actually someone had a setup once but took it off, should I check the fuses in it and replace?

Is the electrical trailer-connector still there? Or is the loom cut somewhere with naked cables hanging around? Best is if you can take out all cable-junk that isnt in use anymore... If there is any fuses thats blown, replace and try, also check in the engine bay fusebox, probably separate fuses for lh & rh brake lights, if you turn the lid upside down you have a fuse map there i think🙂
