Default Previous owners were dumb. Cut wires and unplugged connectors

Hey everyone. Bought my 2002 Blazer 2wd around 2 weeks ago. Long story short. Security light was always blinking after turning rig off but it always started, and dome lights would not come on when door was open. Found that someone cut wires from the BCM and grounded them to the chassis. Also found cut wires and unplugged connectors, maybe someone can let me in on where these wires and connectors go, and why would someone cut the wires in a technical sense ? Also all pictures were taken underneath driver side kick panel

What a mess. The only thing I could think of is that the PO must have installed some security system or that they were trying to disable some of the signals that come out of the BCM that control some of the many relays that turn things on and off.

If you could get your hands on a GM service manual, you'll find all of the schematics you need there.

There is dome override switch just below the headlight switch. Push that button and see if interior light come on. It will also turn the headlights off if you push it. on and off 4 times in (I believe) ten seconds. The security light should flash engine off until you shut the doors. As far as that electrical mess all I can say is best of luck. Enjoy the truck..

Did you ever find the diagrams you needed for the wiring? I'm currently looking at the same disaster on my 96.

Are you able to locate where the orange and white wire were cut, where they are going or at least a wider angle photo?

I will be able to help with a couple others this evening when I can verify their purpose

The blue and red connector go to the small gray plastic box very near where your code reader port is located (they are both mounted on the same trim panel). It has part # 15042969. Plug that into google to see a picture of the “box” which looks to be the receiver for your key fob.

I would like to add that is where that very similar looking connector is located on my Blazer.

The purple wires’ connector also look like the connector used for my fog lights, if I had them. On my Blazer, GM still provided a connector for the fog lights’ switch even if they weren’t actually ordered on the truck. I ran into this putting my dash back together when I found this same connector lacking a partner. But, my wires are colored differently so I’m just throwing something out there for consideration.

Much luck.

The purple wires just hang free in my Blazer. They are not used for anything. I just found that exact one you displayed hanging free by my brake pedal.

The gray connector with the blue and green wire is for your steering wheel accessory controls, if you have them.

The spliced yellow wire is part of your ignition switch. It is fairly reasonable to replace and not labor intensive. In that “glob” of wires making up the ignition switch, who knows what it specifically operates.

All I can say about the orange and white is in my Blazer, the orange is always a power feed.
