trailer plug rant
I bought a small camper last weekend
Scheduled to pick it up tommorow night after work
I have never towed with the Blazer in my short time owning it
P.O had a trailer ball and plug for" towing around their seadoo"
Something with my OCD told me to check the power at the plug tonight LOL
lights , no lights , one signal WTH
Got some sand paper and tried cleaning up the plug sockets
Then no lights at all and its windy ,below freezing and dark outside FFFFFFFFFF
Closer look and the ground wire is now broken right at the plug
I start peeling back electrical tape GRRRRRR
I find a couple wires that just terminate and all the splices in just a ball
I am suprised that I wasnt having lighting issues without anything pluged in
Fortunately I had a brand new trailer plug in the garage
After cutting the wires back beyond the crappy splices , I shrink tubed my splices and wrapped everything with water proof tape
I am afraid to take a closer look behind the bumper, that will be on a warmer day

when i got mine the PO had a round 6 pin plug and not everything was hooked up. i wired up a 7 pin with a flat 4 next to it. best thing i ever did. the downside is that i forgot to run it OVER the hitch, but luckily you cant see it. i just got out the owners manual and the wiring diagram for my new 7 pin and away i went.

I added a 4 pin to mine. All that was on mine was the wires zip tied behind the bumper, though the truck came with a 1 7/8" ball on the bumper and lots of gouges in the plastic where they had been pulling crap with no trailer lights. It took me like 10 min to heatshrink, black tape, ziptie everything up nicely.
