I really don't care what milage my Blazer got brand new, I bought it about 8 years ago, what I care about is the milage I get when I fill it up, before Big Brother says my model of vehicle is a klunker, they need to do a little research, they have no right, nor does anybody else for that matter, to call any vehicle a klunker, just because they think its not new enough or pretty enough. sombody really needs to come up with a way to figure gas milage on EACH vehicle that is traded, cause if the requirement is under 18 combined, and sombody brings in a vehicle that gets over 18 combined, then they are ripping off MY hard earned taxes and yours, while the dealer makes a bunch of money and dosn;t give a crap about you or me as long as he makes sales and saves himself.
the only research I need to do is on research my own vehicles. NONE of my vehicles are klunkers, they all get over 18 mpg combineed. I'm not going to rip you and everybody else by grabbing a 4500 credit just cause Obama says I can, that just wouldn't be right.
My S-10 Blazer gets combimed city and highway milage higher than what they say it did new, yea thats my fault, I'm dam proud of it too, that just tells me I know a little more about my vehicles than other people do , ( imagine that).
Ya know, the thing is.. you or me or santa claus can't stop the program from going on. No one can make you trade in your Blazer, so don't. Who cares if you're upset I'm sure there are alot of people upset. Until your President you'll have to deal with whats going on.

taxing by mileage has been brought up in my state, i wonder how they would track it.
if i had a 5 speed car i would just learn what speed is at what rpm and disconnect my speed sensor for 11 and a half months a year

And the reason i said 5 speed car in case some people dont know, automatics are computer controlled and use the speedometer for shifting and whatnot

I just do not like the idea of trashing running cars and crushing and destroying the car so it can not be used for parts. The cars should be sold to salvage yards and they should be able to sell every single part they can. This still accomplishes the goal of that vehical being taken off of the road but it might allow someone else to keep their own car in running condition.

The salvage yard have to crush the car within a short time frame of receiving, so they are not pulling parts for resale. I agree they can resell parts but the car has to be crushed within a certain time limit. There was a story from chicago how they are removing very few parts because of the amount of cars they have to crush and the time frame in which they have to get it accomplished. So yes, technicaly you are correct but in practice it is not happening.
