Default Pontiac rust out..

Got a 90 Pontiac 6000. 170k miles. Runs damn good. Here's the deal. In the rear of the car there are two bars with a grommet in them ...one on each side that connect to the rear axle....if that's what you call it, and the other end to the unibody underneath. Where it connects to the body is rusted out bad....to where it seems to have seperated. What do you do with a situation like this? Say good bye and say thanks for the memories? Or can it be repaired? Thanks.

Thanks........if not repaired, can the rear end fall off?

Also......I will probably take it to the shop for an estimate. What would something like this run? And when talking to the guys, how do I refer to this? What is that bar with the grommet in it called. Thanks.

Lol it can. If its a coil spring rear axle those bars are probably all thats holding the axle in place. Probably wont just fall off but will F something up. Not sure on the cost a shop will probably charge alot cause they are gonna want to cut the whole section out and replace it. I would just plate it and rig it up safely. Doesnt have to look pretty just has to work
