...Although I do think that a person needs to do plenty of searching and reading, I also think that when a common problem is asked about over and over again, it may not necessarily be the fault of the searcher.

I read probably 30 topics, each containing over 20 replies...

But I will say this...after reading those 30 topics, I gathered enough basic info to do the job and I am now creating a step by step well-pictured How-to on that topic.

And, for the next guy who asks a question about a problem, don`t let your first answer be

"Try the search feature, idiot"

but how about,

"Be sure and read as many posts first. But here are some search results that I came up with using the search feature."
Soo, you want us to search FOR the person and post with the results? Even after saying repeatedly that you searched on your own for around 30 topics?

Yes, to a degree. Help other out by giving them a start with the search. Tell them what terms to search for. Give a helping hand.

Hey, if you don't want to help them out, that's your choice. But my comment is directed at those that rudely tell others to use the search without offering any tips.

This site should not just be giving repair tips, but site tips as well. IMO

I think that many people need to stop taking things so seriously. Why is it that sometimes when someone suggests that a problem has been covered in great depth in other threads (often many other threads), does it get taken as a demeaning suggestion?? Answer... You cannot please everyone.

My favorite is when they post the thread, 5 threads with the exact same answer will show up in the related threads box at the bottom of the page!

Makes me lol a bit
