Thanks ChevyBlazerChick! Happy to see I am not the only lady that has been bitten with the Blazer bug.
First "trusted" mechanic I took it too--I don't know what happened, but it's not a trusted shop any longer. Tried to sell me a bill of goods that didn't add up. (Even I know that if you say you are going to hook it up for diagnostics, hand me a $355 bill, and don't show me a readout (but give me a $3000 estimate for repairs), the bill is padded and I'm being taken for a ride.) Ran it by a friend that is very experienced with mechanical things and I was redeemed! Some fixes are definitely needed, but nowhere near the amount I was first handed.
So I am off and rolling...in more ways than one. Thanks again, all, for the warm welcome. Looks like it's time for me to move to other threads and get into my Blazer education.

I was bit young lol. My daddy bought a '79 K5 cause his '78 Trans Am just couldn't fit all my baby stuff lol. So I grew up with a Blazer... and a Fox Body 'Stang.
