Default Hi from Canada

New to the forum
Hi all, just joined up
Recently purchased a 2005 jimmy in awesome condition
Only issue was the tow hooks have been removed, I'd like to replace them, but I was wondering if anyone could confirm that they only bolted through the bottom of the frame. I'm a welder so I'm probably going to fabricate a 2" receiver for a shackle but wanted to make sure I shouldn't be trying to find holes in the top of the frame to bolt all the way through.
thanks

Welcome!

From where in Canada do you hail?

As for the tow hooks, I think they bolt from the side. When I got my Blazer, I suspected that it was towed behind an RV and that the tow bracket was attached to where the tow hooks attached. One of the first things I did was go the wrecking yard to get replacement hooks.

Hello and welcome from Ontario! Just north of Niagara Falls myself... my tow hooks were bolted through the bottom of the frame, but I've seen some people do relocating of a bunch of different parts lol

Welcome from a fellow Canadian! Yeah, the tow hooks bolt in from below. If you want a simple upgrade to the skinny factory hooks you can grab a set off a '90s full size Sierra/Silverado from the wreckers. They're way heavier and are a quick and simple upgrade. That's what I have on my truck. Your idea of a 2" receiver tube is another common one. I actually have a set of tubes from Princess Auto sitting on the shelf in my shed that are already drilled and tapped that I've just never installed.
