quick questions to start
i am picking up my 88 blazer and was wondering if i would be able to do a quick repair on the brake hose so i wont have to have it towed home. the pedal goes to floor, so we put in brake fluid and found the leak located in right corner below engine, hose looks broken. my question is how easy of a repair is this and would it be drivable home?
if you mean the rubber hose from the caliper to the control arm area then its very easy id replace it and bleed it on the spot and drive away with no worries, however you should be aware (dont know how mechanical you are) on a truck that old with a bad line it is quite possible more line(s) may develop leaks in the process if they are still original as well or even if the truck just sat for awhile. In october i blew a line on my 94 and in the process of bleeding i blew another and it just snowballed i ended up with every brake line new (not expensive nor all that time consuming) but it is a possibility to be aware of and besides at least now i am confident my brake system is rock solid.
The New Member area is for introducing yourself and your truck. Any questions concerning repairs and other problems should be posted in the appropriate section. I see that you have made another thread in the 1st Gen section, so anybody wishing to reply to that question, please do so in that thread.
I just realized you also have an introduction thread in the New Members Area, so I am locking this thread. It might be a good idea to take a few minutes and familiarize yourself with the posting requirements and section descriptions to help with any future questions you may have.
