1996 4 Door Blazer - 102,989 miles
Green - debadged - stock
NJ IBSP Beach Buggy pass
I have fished at IBSP alot of times - and 3 other trucks with BB pass (1986 Jeep - 1988 Yo Toy SR5 - 1996 Pathfinder)
Did the normal off road checks - and the required equipment to get on the beach - Its a State Beach and NJ State Police patrol the roads and the Beach Buggy
Active Fishing - No Camping - No Beer
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7riSbHXr9w
Just got the truck 3 weeks ago - ran it threw all the normal checks - and had no issues for the 35 mile drive to work each way every day
Broke the Hazzard switch and came here for a great fix!!
Had to put a new radio in and speakers and came here to find all the info I needed
No to blow to much smoke - but thanks
SO any who.........................
Take test run to IBSP Friday - No problems - have fun - no fish - that sucked
4th July - Plan since we got the truck - Sold a 2001 GTP (and got some cash in my pocket)
Get ready to go fishing - I have not been out in about 3 years
Stripers and Blue - rig both poles
Cut and Fit PVC for sand pole holders
Cut and Fit PVC for pole Truck Rigs
Leave with my Son - 5
Daughter - 3
And me and My wife
Have no dash problems - IE - oil fine, charge at 14, temp 220,full tank
Get on the Beach no Problems
Fish - great weather in NJ - green flys are a PITA
See Fire works - can see no less then 5 towns
Son Catches and I have to cut loose a small skate/sand shark (Didnt bring it all the way off the surf)
Get ready to go - truck running great - A/C on - Lights - No problems
Have to Drive about 2 miles to BB exit
About 300 yards into the trip - check battery, then ABS, then Over head goes out - no lights - no radio - nothing
Got it off the beach - just
drove about another 100 yards - done
Now this is in the middle of no where - check the IBSP map

SO - I am SOL at 11:25am July 5 at IBSP - and have to deal with July 4th Seaside NJ traffic - to try and get help
HELP!!!!!!
1- I had was flashing a light on the main road - some very nice people in a Honda or Acura SUV stopped -had it all - quick charger - jumpers
Got the Truck Started in no time - I didnt get thier names - but shows that NJ beach buggy program works - Thanks Who ever you are
OK!! - Back started - 9 on the volt gauge - in drive - 4 wheel off - lets go fill the tires
100 Yards - dead again
Alt is FUBAR - now its clear - had no signs - just dies - problay because it was weak and the salt water mist killed it totaly
NOW - Know I am stuck for good, no help comming
No one to come pick us up - have to be out of truck - and the dam green flys are bitting the kids
By the Grace of the Gods of 4x4 the NJ State Police Jeep shows up
Helps us call the tow - helps push the truck off the road - and stays with us PAST his shift (It had to be a 12 hour day)
Tow shows - well cant take the kids (Car seats)
Had to call a Cab (Hum SeaSide NJ - 4th of July - yea that was fun)
Now this was one of the hardest thing I had to do
In the Middle of No where - infested with flys - had to leave my wife - little girl - and my son - on the side of the small road
Oh I cursed the Blazer to no end
Then had to deal with RT37 Bridge Traffic - if you live in NJ you know that its hell
The State Police officer put my Kids and Wife in his car - after his shift - and started to drive them to the gate
When the cab had already gotten thew the gate - the officer looked for the cab comming the other direction - and when it passed him (Even with his lights on) turned around and got the cabs attention
Then helped my wife load the kids into the cab
WOW!!!!!!!!
Did not get his name - Going to try and find out who he was
But dam - I owe him ALOT and if I can find his name and his captian am going to make sure he gets a letter of comindation for all his help
SO - got BF on the tow and the cab
The Alt blots where frozen
and the kids where freaked out and now do not want to go to the beach in the Blazer any more
Joy
Any how -
Thanks Chevy Blazer Forums

And Special Thanks to the IBSP NJ State Police Officer that helped us so much
