What psi should I air my tires to for sand?
i usually air down to 20 psi on my 31x10.50r15s.. the sand that i go on has alot of killer shells and coral like stuff so i dont want alot of my sidewall on the sand... never had a problem but im also running mud terrains so grip definitly aint a problem.. although i cant get on the gas pedal to much cause ill dig myself in real quick... lol..
You definitely want to air down for sand, and I air down in the mountains (when needed) so I will have tires when I'm done, and a way back out. Tire plugs and Fix-a-Flat can't do anything to a gaping hole ripped by a sharp rock...
I play in sand deep enough to hide a house...
(Seriously, we found the edge of a house in this dune...)
anyways, depending on your re-inflation capabilities, and the type of terrain as well as tire type 10%-50% of the Max pressure is recommended.
When I Hit the REALLY Soft stuff I go 25PSI

I live 5 minites away from a beach were theres alot of soft sand everywhere and when i had my stock tires it was a nightmare to go through but now i got my 31x10x15 xtreme a/t ive never had to lower the pressure even when i climb the dunes and pull out full size trucks. Lowering your tire pressure will help but as long as its not too low if you put it too low pressure your gonna bog your engine sink in the sand and go 2mph. ALWAYS HAVE A TIRE GUAGE WITH YOU AT ALL TIMES!!!!!
