Default 2000 Blazer rear hatch door panel removal.

Need to get into rear hatch to work on wiper and glass latch button. Is the panel held on with the plastic push in pins like door panels or something different? Don't want to get crazy and break something that is hard to find. I did see 1 screw in the pull strap but no more. This is a 2000 Chevy Blazer with the Trail Blazer option. Thank you in advance for all the help and info.

If you have a liftgate, then these pictures should help.

A few things to keep in mind:
  • There are two screws to be removed
    • one is for the pull handle on the lower passenger side
    • the other is at the locking mechanism at the center of the lower part of the opening for the glass
  • Standard trim removal tools will work fine on this.
  • The lower part has metal spring clips that go into slots in the metal.
  • Around the window, there are slots that engage plastic buttons by sliding laterally on to them.
  • It is easy to crack the plastic at the lower part of the side of the window when the lower part of the cover is unsupported.

Notice the metal clips for the lower part.

One of the openings for the buttons for the top part.

The openings for the buttons on the top

The little black dots are the buttons that secure the top part of the cover.

The lower panel. The slot openings are for the metal clips.

Thank you very much christine_208. Everything is answered in your pictures. Probably even answered a few questions I would have asked later. This will make this job much easier, thanks again.

Glad to help. I figure my posts like this are a way to "pay it forward" for the help I've gotten in the past.

Good luck on your repairs.

even with the indiana salt the liftgate on your rig is in perfect shape, mine has a nice long stripe of rust along the bottom pinchweld despite being in florida for over 10 years.

I'm in Idaho, a bit different state than Inidana.

That said, in the last 5 years they have started using some salt. But it is no way as much as the use in Indiana as I learned when I lived in South Bend for a couple years.

Fun Factoid: Within a 30 mile drive of where I live there is a section of highway that drops 1,700' in 6 miles. That is 500' more that the total elevation gain possible in Indiana. LOL

im not sure where i got indiana from your location tag last night lol. But still, nice. My rig spent 10 years in north cali before it got to florida and it lost its rear bumper, springshackles and a few bodymounts to it + the liftgate
