Painting tow hooks and aftermarket roof rack
Any tips, do I need to sand down the rust or what,
I was thinking of just takin a wire brush real good to the problem areas and then hitting it with rust protection stuff and then hitting it with truck bed liner, anything I need to know

no advice on painting roof rack as i have not dealt with that (painted stock one, but not AM)
as for hooks, i sanded with something like 80 grit, then a green scuff pad, then wiped down with thinner, then hung and hit with spray on liner in a can. they held up nicely, hauling my canoe (tie down point) and pulling a stuck tacoma (an anchor point) with no loss of paint.
wire brush will be fine on hooks (in a vice so you dont mess your front end up) but i would be careful on rack if it's aluminum or something soft

the aftermarket rack is steel. I just don't know who makes it..

I painted my hitch. I hit it with a brass brush attachment for a drill to get rid of the old paint/rust (made it real easy), can primer and then painted it. I used the "Hammer Forged" spray paint and it holds up great.
