So yesterday I had to replace my rear axles for my 97' 4x4 LS. Now there is a knocking noise coming somewhere from the rear. The noise itselff isn't consistant so it does seem like its from anything thats rotating. But we've taken everything in the rear apart and we can't anything wrong.

 

you replaced the actual axle shafts inside the axle? if you used used ones its possible they maybe bent

 

No. neither of the axles were bent. and yes we did replace the actual axle shafft.

 

Found the problem. Needed new rear brake hardware
