front brakes wearing out in 5 months. HELP
hello. so back in july i bought new duralast gold ceramic brakes. you know the ones with the lifetime warranty that were 60 bucks. just a couple months ago i started hearing this horrible grinding and i look at my calipers and they were gone!!! i took them in and got new ones for free and also got new rotors too since the old ones were dug into pretty bad. checking them recently they look like they are wearing decently as they should.
any ideas on why the pads went bad so fast? they guys at autozone had no idea either.

Im willing to bet the rear shoes are way out of adjustment, causing accelerated wear of the front pads. Take off your drums and check the condition of everything. The self adjusters rust up then the rear shoes will do almost nothing for stopping.
i did realize this and replaced my shoes the same time as the front. i saw when i had my car up on jackstands completely and the back wheels would spin even when i was on the brakes hard.
Also when you clean your calipers you also need to clean everywhere the pads will slide and your caliper slides. Then you need to put a thin layer of caliper grease on all contact points and slides. I always put some on the back of the pads where they touch the calipers too to cut down on any noise in the future. I have had trouble with the Lifetime pads you are talking about. They are notorious for wearing rotors more quickly than the others and making more noise. That's just because they use alot more metal in the shoe compound than the cheaper ones to make them last longer. There isn't anything wrong with them, just letting you know so you may keep an eye on your rotors and if anything were to look funny you would have an idea why
