No posi. Only the G80 Gov-loc.

What's "Gov-Loc"?

I was just curious because I spun mine in the field and it left posi marks.

My 95 spins both tires and my 96 only spins one.

Never tore into them just assumed the 96 did not have a pos unit.

There's a lot of different names for how the rear end work. Some don't work exactly alike but may have the same effect. I've always called anything that spins both rear tires any time you hit the gas a "pos" rear end.

positraction, limited slip, darn, can't remember what Pontiac called theirs.

My 86 IROC has different unit that the 88 Formula but both spin both rear tires when the pedal goes down.

Alright thanks

What if the only "G" code is "GU6" I think that's the gear ratio "3:42" would the axle housing have anything on it?

If you do not have RPO G80, you do not have the gov-loc rear diff. That is unless someone installed one after the truck rolled off the factory assembly line.

The G80 is not a positraction unit in the traditional sense. If you want to learn more about it, more information is just a search away.

Um... Standard open...

Or as I said, someone could have changed it out. You really won't know until you pop the cover.
