ok man
if i go with the 30's, ill have .5inches more of clearence from the sides
theyll be on stock rims with 6 inches of backspacing so i sont think ill have to trim

Check out the dimensions of the 30 you want cause my 31's were 30.7 opposed to the 29's which were 29.5 I believe so, just another thought I didn't know if you've done that or not. Yeah you should be good without trimming I had thought about getting 30x9.5x15's and they were gonna fit with trim so yeah you should be fine if you don't want to trim.

yea, they are really 29.8's but .2 og an ince isnt alot

If youre going to get new rims, go with the 30x9.5s. The lower backspacing on the steel rims means you cant run as big of a tire. If you go with 31s, you'll have to cut off a good bit of the wheel well to be able to handle bumps nicely..also if you offroad at all, the whole idea is more articulation...so bigger tire = less articulation.
