Question Freakin Frustration!

HELP! Bought a 97 Chevy Blazer that had been sitting for 3-4yrs due to bad fuel pump and laziness. Replaced fuel pump and it fires right up. But when I shift into R or D it dies. If it doesn't die when shifted it will when you apply the brakes. TCC solenoid, maybe? Torque Conv stuck in lock up? Ideas... anyone?? Thanx

Yes, pressing the brakes takes rpm's way down but it comes back up slowly if it doesn't die. How do I check for vacuum leak with the breaks? I am kind of new at this. Thanx

I bet you could probably rule out a brake related vacuum leak by disconnecting the brake booster, and plugging the vacuum hose to it. you won't have power assist, but the brakes will still work. If your problem goes away, time for a new brake booster.
