Default Bumper mounted ball hitch

Can anyone tell me what the weight limit is for a bumper mounted ball hitch? I have a 2004 Blazer 4wd LS, Automatic, 6 cyl.

I believe 350lb tongue weight. I wouldn't trust it though, I once ripped my whole bumper off my old blazer pulling out a small shrub.

Considering those bumpers rust from the inside out, I would be very wary of towing with it. I believe the weight is stamped on the rubber part of the bumper near the license plate.

I thought all 4wd Blazers came with a Class III receiver/hitch....does it not have one? If not, suggest getting one instead of evening thinking about using a bumper mounted hitch.

Default Bumper mounted ball hitch.

Thanks everyone for your advice. Looks like I'll be installing a "real" hitch!

May be since '04 was the last year for the S10 Blazer, Chevy ran-out of Class III receivers and stopped putting them on.....IDK. I just have never seen a 4wd S10 Blazer that did not have a Class III receiver on it. Must not have seen too many '04 models.
Guess the original poster could try a salvage yard for a receiver off of an earlier year that way it will fit the mounting holes in the frame.
