Default 96 blazer park/trans. problem

I have a 96 blazer that when in park if it is on a hill/slant or you lean against it hard enough it will slowly slip and move. Any one have this problem? I have been told it could be the cable out of adjustment or bad. Or it could be something in the trans itself. Just want to see if anyone has any ideas before I have to pay to have someone look at it. It is also a little hard shifting out of park, probably from the tension on it. It has 125,000 miles and I purchased it not knowing about this problem.

Thanks for any help!

Do you have the auto 4wd? If you do, a transfer case failure/front diff failure can result in driveline failure not allowing Park to hold the vehicle!

Yes it is all wheel drive. What type of failures would do that? Something I need to take in and have looked at to find the actual problem? Or is it something I can find out on my own? I'm not a mechanic, just a back yard mechanic. I'm hoping someone could tell me how to adjust the cable or how to tell if it's bad. Hopefully it's not something major!!
