Question Computer Swap

I want to send my pcm for my 98 gmc jimmy 4dr 4x4 out for a tune, I still have my pcm left over from my 97 bravada, I want to use the 97's until mine comes back. Visually they are the same Computer, Except in between the top 2 plugs there is a small round hole on my 98's pcm that was not used, But on the 97's there is a open spot to plug in a connector. Can i still use this temporarily, Or will this place my truck into some type of security lock out. Sometimes it does hurt to try .

Check if the numbers on them are the same. Otherwise try plugging it in. You might find some of the connectors wont fit. I would think it would be fine as long as both had the same options.

Well i know the 4 main plugs i have plug in no problem, But i did that with the battery + off. I did not wanna try to start the truck, And cause some kind of miscommunication do to the little plug i dont have on my harness. I was thinking the extra plug was for the Awd, But im not sure. By the way how are those Km2's treating you?
