Default Dome light problem

I have a 2002 Blazer, the two door version. Something is screwy with the dome lights. They come on fine if I turmn them on manually by pushing the bezel......when I use my remote to unlock the doors, they come right on......but they will not come on when I open a door, any door....what would cause this? I am totally confused. I would deeply appreciate any suggestions....has anyone else ever had this problem?

Have you checked if the dome-override button is engaged? This might or might not be related.

I was in the dark the other night and could not get any light at all. Tried all the buttons, finally had to open the door.
