I wish I had enough money to do that crate engine but would take me another
2 months to save that much up.

The engine blocks are machined differently for the mounting of this sensor, and wiring harness in your vehicle is different depending on which sensor it has originally. You should go with engine that has the same sensor as your vehicle does now. 1999 should have a 1-wire knock sensor.

Couldn't I just tap the 2001 sensor hole to the size
of 99 thread size of the knock sensor and use my existing
setup ?
Or tap a hole next to it if reversed ?

I got the build date 11/04/2000 on the 2001 Blazer
The build sheet shows on his vs mine:

I sure hope so i want this 2001 so bad I can taste it, there is got to be way to do it.
11month of 2000 is fairly early. Maybe it will be the old style sensor. ONly one way to know.
I am google reading everything to see if
it's been changed back otherwise
Looks like 99 has bigger bolt diameter so just have to Drill & Tap
2001 knock sensor hole to fit larger 99 sensor...
( if not same size 1 wire )

You cannot substitute a 2 wire sensor for a single wire sensor. Their outputs are different from what I have read up on them. You will have to find a way to drill/tap the hole out to the appropriate NPT tap size (can't remember off the top of my head).
The two wire knock sensor is not compatible with the 99 PCM.
the one and two wire sensors produce entirely different waveforms.
the 99 PCM can't process the signals from a 2wire KS.

if the engine is already in the truck, doing this in the stock KS
location would be just about impossible. just relocate the sensor
to either one of the block drain plug holes, or the holes in the side

the 01 has 2 wires on the pcm that senses voltage and the 00 just has 1 wire and it is grounded through the sensor. So if you ground one wire on the 01 engine and run one wire you should be fine. Connect the dark blue wire and ground the grey wire.

This may be result in the KS sitting up too high off the bellhousing, competing for space with the other items at the back of the block.
#3 - Get the connector for the 2-wire sensor, ground the gray wire, and splice the dark blue wire.
