Ok thanks

(I just edited post I found one more)
the 01 is 600 bucks
the 99 is 500 bucks

I wish I had enough money to do that crate engine but would take me another
2 months to save that much up.

The engine blocks are machined differently for the mounting of this sensor, and wiring harness in your vehicle is different depending on which sensor it has originally. You should go with engine that has the same sensor as your vehicle does now. 1999 should have a 1-wire knock sensor.

1-wire knock sensor

2-wire knock sensor

Hmmm,, Is there a difference in bolt size on these ??

If the 99 is a larger thread
and the 2001 is a smaller thread

Couldn't I just tap the 2001 sensor hole to the size
of 99 thread size of the knock sensor and use my existing
setup ?

Or tap a hole next to it if reversed ?

I got the build date 11/04/2000 on the 2001 Blazer

The build sheet shows on his vs mine:

2001 Blazer -L35 ENGINE,4.3L(4.3W),CPI,V6,90 DEG 4.3W(L35)
vs
1999 Blazer -L35 ENGINE,4.3L(4.3W),CPI,V6,90 DEG 4.3W(L35)

I suppose you could drill and tap the 2001 block for the 1999 sensor if it is originally a smaller bolt hole. I can't really help you here. Maybe someone else can weigh in on that.

11month of 2000 is fairly early. Maybe it will be the old style sensor. ONly one way to know.

Looks like 99 has bigger bolt diameter so just have to Drill & Tap
2001 knock sensor hole to fit larger 99 sensor...
( if not same size 1 wire )
.. and swap oil pans ...like Lesmyer said.

Found this info so far from searching;

You have a few options.

#1 - Drill and tap the block to fit the 1/4" NPT threads on the bottom of the one wire knock sensor. This would physically convert your block to the older style.
#2 - Fab a mounting adapter that will bolt to the block using a socket head cap screw that will use the existing hole in the block and have the proper 1/4" NPT thread for the stock sensor. This may be result in the KS sitting up too high off the bellhousing, competing for space with the other items at the back of the block.
#3 - Get the connector for the 2-wire sensor, ground the gray wire, and splice the dark blue wire.

The two wire knock sensor is not compatible with the 99 PCM.
the one and two wire sensors produce entirely different waveforms.
the 99 PCM can't process the signals from a 2wire KS.
>The usual method to install a one wire sensor on an 01- up
4.3L is to drill and tap the hole in the block for a (I think)
1/4-18 NPT.
if the engine is already in the truck, doing this in the stock KS
location would be just about impossible. just relocate the sensor
to either one of the block drain plug holes, or the holes in the side
of the cylinder heads, which are already the correct thread size.

the 01 has 2 wires on the pcm that senses voltage and the 00 just has 1 wire and it is grounded through the sensor. So if you ground one wire on the 01 engine and run one wire you should be fine. Connect the dark blue wire and ground the grey wire.
