Taking a trip end of next week and I'm just trying to make sure the blazer is in top shape.. about a 1400 mile trip. It's a 97 with about 156k on it. Things that have been replaced recently: water pump, greased ball joints/steering components, replaced fuel pump, new clutch fan, new tires, oil change about 1k miles ago... anything else I should check before leaving? Checked all fluids and it doesn't leak/burn anything that I can tell.
Also a few q's:
First off-
When I punch it and I hit about 4k rpm I noticed the lights dim and the voltage goes from 14 and dips until it shifts to the next gear.
Second-
After it's fully warmed up my oil pressure is at about 25psi while in Drive and my foot on the brake. A little over 40psi while in Park and going 75 on the highway it's at about 50-55psi. Does this all sound normal?
Thanks in advance for any replies!

Not necessary for the trip, but first chance you have, flush and refill the coolant system being sure to flush the heater core.
There should be no problem with the oil pressures you have listed.

Also my oil pressure gauge has been bouncing. It still stays within those levels and never drops below 25psi with foot on brake stopped, I assuming this is the sending unit/bad connection with the gauge?
It is okay to drive it like this correct?

Bouncing how much - just a blip while at idle/cruising or big swings? The best way to find out about the pressure is to attach a mechanical oil pressure gauge with a t-fitting at the sending unit port and see how it compares with the factory electrical gauge.

Most of the time it's stable, other times it will constantly blip from 50-60psi warmed up at 70mph.
also blips from 25-35psi while stopped at times. Seems completely random when it will do it though, hasn't done it at all this week but last week it happened 2 days (I drive about 60 miles to school and back 4 days a week)

Hello OhNine,
I have a 1997 Blazer also and have noticed that my dash gauges also seem to
jump around. I think I have a short somewhere.
I just got back from a 1500 mile trip also. Everything went well.
Let us know how things go. Drop the forum a line on your gas mileage.
I love my blazer and when I have the time, I try to save on airfare.
