If not bench vise, then solder as well along with the bench vise for added insurance. My guess is the big 3 as well. But also like hillbilly said. Look at where your amp is grounded. Make sure the paint is all scratched away and the connection is good.

First off, do not use 10 ga wire for your big three upgrade. will be a waste of time. Go with at least 4 ga or bigger. If you want to cheat, and if you have a battery with top and side mounts, you can get a 2 ga batt cable at any parts store.
Radio shack will have teminals that will fit, but i would suggest going to a local stereo shop and getting them.
The battery is grounded to the chassis right on the front clip. pull the batt out and you will see it. I always just run a new line down to the frame of the truck.
What is the actual model number of the amp? You can get wire gauge reducers to drop to a diff size.

yea those style ofring terminals are sweet I dont use the stinger ones but they are the same thing if you find that you need to redo something all you have to do is unscrew them and then you can just reuse them I typicly wrap electrical tape around the base of the terminal and the wire for a little bit of added security

Ok 4 ga or bigger wire, approx 12 ft... My battery only has side mounts! And the alternator model # im unsure of, if its not stock then its acdelco replacement! where did you find a spot on the frame to ground the battery at? anywhere or was there a really easy localized spot?

I awas asking for model of your Sony Amp, not the alternator. Just drop the wire down beside the engine and ground it on the frame there.

if all you have is side mounts i would recomend getting these http://www.cardomain.com/item/STISLGMBATTthats what i had to use before i got my yellow top. i would do 1/0ga for your big 3, if you look at knu-koncptz you can get 1/0ga for like 2 bucks a foot.
