Car Audio Discussion
Eh, it's not something alot of people do. But I've seen people fight tooth and nail over wether or not it has an impact on the sound/excursion/life of the subwoofer. Normally manufactures will just mention something about running the sub free air at a certain hertz frequency for a set amount of time. Something about settling the adhesives and such in the assemblies and what not. The logic I figure is kinda like taking a messed up deck of cards. After shuffling them once or twice they are neat and lined up.
That being said, I've never done that.

Ideal way to break it in is plug it into your surround sound with no box. Turn on 40hz and go to work. Come home and toss it in a box and pound away. My fi q was movin in no time that way.
As for a good head unit look in my sig... This kenwood has all kinds of features for audiophiles. Crossovers, what type of vehical you drive, distance from speaker, where the speaker is placed (dash, door, etc) and alot more. I love it, and its got built in blue tooof.
alot of head units have trouble with apples new iOS4 (thats why i switched) but this one works great with it.

i assume you're going to be running a bigger battery up front, a battery or two in the back and an alternator to keep it up.
with those two amps, your max amp is going to be 310. so thats a whole lotta draw.
