yeah cvr's are sound good and will definitely get loud! (see my gallery) and yeah cvr's deffinitely prefer ported over sealed. If your not totaly set on the cvx's, you can put together a real nice sounding setup with the cvr's, if you have a local kicker dealer besides circuit city go there talk to them, i bought my 2 15 dual 4 ohm cvr's for 200 bucks, that was both out the door, i've got them running off an ed nine.1 wired down to 1 ohm. The nine.1 is a very very good amp for the price it does [email protected] @ 12.5 volts.
here's a link to the nine.1... niNe.1

So I take it Hifonics amps are better then kicker amps? At CC they were raving about how kicker is like the best amp. Anyways here are the specs on the amp:
# 550 watts RMS x 1 channels into 4 Ohms
# 1100 watts RMS x 1 channels into 2 Ohms
# 1600 watts RMS x 1 channel into 1 Ohms
How would I want to wire it if the subs run 4 ohms. I have 2 12"s

Kicker is a great company, but definitely not the best. and hifonics is the best bang for your buck company..so your subs are dual 4 ohm??? this will get you a 1 ohm load

I dunno if the hifonics are any better or worse than the kicker, just the hifonics has more power for less money, with an amp, do the math and see how many "dollars to watts" there are. Almost 7 watts per dollar on the hifonics, good deal considering i payed a dollar a watt for my alpine
The Only reason CC says there killer amps is beacuse its there most expensive, and there top line there. Kicker is good, just waaay overpriced. I would listen to Jon, he will steer you into the right direction. and the hifonics will SLAM whatever you buy.....

oops, if your subs are DUAL 4 ohm then you will get the most power outta the hifonics, which means each sub will get roughly 750watts. Or If you had DUAL 2 ohm subs, you will get a 2 ohm load to the amp, resulting in your subs recieving around 500rms. the bx1606/1605 is a heck of a deal. just go to roe and see them running, and how many ppl really do run them.....the nine.1 is purdy nice, but too much money when compared to the hifonics.

Ok so I will probably be going with the following:
1. Sony Cd Reciever (Model Link)
2. (2) 12" Kicker CVX Subs, 750w RMS @ 2 or 4 DVC
3. Hifonics BXi 1606D Amp
4. 6 new speakers, dont know what brand yet...
I have two more questions. Should I get a capacitor and why would I need one if I need one. My other question is that on some ebay pages it says the kicker cvx 12 sub runs dual 2 ohm and then others say dual 4 ohm. Which one is it?

alright man, looks good! although after the speaker upgrade id look into a new deck, a shall we say non-sony, car audio is not exactly there strongest point. Most subs come in either dual 4ohm or dual 2 ohm, so that customers can get the desired ohm load, just gives more wiring options. Everyone here will say no to the capacitor, as its one more thing for your electrical system to charge, your amplifier would probably do fine with the supplied amps. otherwise an H.O alty is your best bet, as it puts out constant power.
As for speakers get a decent component set with an external crossover for the front doors, and 4x6's for the dash, most ppl dont run speakers in the back. With 1600 watts going to your subs you'll find your speakers lacking depth and volume, a good 50x4 amp will be the solution.
