The next thing was the "Quad Mod"

Because the 95 and 96 were very different than the other years I used the previous research and more U-Tube searches. After joining BF and searching the threads; I still couldn't beat it. I eventually started a "Quad Mod" thread. Swartlkk helped me unravel this one!

If you are struggling to turn on more light via dimmer with a 95/96 - search my "Quad Mod" thread.

Default ABS Brake issues

A few weeks ago I was trying to beat a yellow light in a left turn. I usually drive fast anyway but this was a big intersection so I put my foot into it. I was steering with the accelerator, listening to my new exhaust when I started to "over-drift." I wear a lotta tires out this way. Usually i just let off and the drift starts to straighten. Once in a while it also takes a light touch on the brake pedal [as with this time]. The odd thing is that my foot kept going like "no brakes." I was really in no danger of crashing but no brakes is a serious safety issue. From there the pedal was spongy but pumped up ok then got spongy again. I pulled over to see what was going on.

If I blew a wheel cylinder my master cylinder will be low on fluid. A minute or two on my belly and I should be able to see which wheel my leak is at. Fluid was dark but all topped up and no leaks were visible. When I pulled off my pedal was high again. Everything was back to normal. It was clearly time to update my understanding of the ABS system.

I searched around this forum and found several threads similar to the dark one's symptoms but I couldn't really put my finger on it so I am wide open to suggestions here.

Default Everything on hold - stuck on back window

Although I cannot use my cargo area through the rear gate or even window; I have been collecting parts that I just can't pass up. I now have
1. A complete rear spare tire carrier ready to install
2. An alternator project to start an auxiliary battery set up for my inverter project and backup on the primary battery
3. The Dome override custom switching fabrication.
4. I want to take my sons Camping while the temperature is below 85 all the time now.

All of which are held up by the "non-working rear window." First I thought I was doing it wrong but I recovered two blue tips from scrap cars and then two more complete actuators "de-installed" from good Blazers. I even popped a window open from inside the cargo area through the wall carpet in 30 seconds with no battery. That one had a broken blue piece but opened for me. I am missing something that keeps leaving me stuck regardless of how many more actuators I acquire. I know from experience that unlatching the tailgate and trying to force the window open using the tailgate isn't gonna happen without breaking something That I prolly can't fix. I read on thread where a guy got so frustrated trying to move the actuator that he tore up the back gate cover on the inside to get at it. I can get at mine fine. I can even hear me activate the actuator but the window lock will NOT click open. I don't want stress or frustration cause me to act stupid.

I am just out of ideas. Anybody been here and can lend an idea or two?

Just a suggestion with the alternator. The stock charge wires on these blazers steps down from around 6 to maybe 8 - 10 gauge before it gets to the battery. I would suggest doing the "big 3" with a good quality 4 gauge or higher or that alternator won't help a lot.

Thank you again Tajohns34

Yeah the Cadillac had a monster cable running to a box with two more (one to battery). I thought I would use them the same way. Just gotta figure out where I am gonna put another battery without loosing my water resistant Airbox.

Well, I took the Monster alternator back and looked for a DR44G again. Learning from other members threads is often a great opportunity to learn from their mistakes and choose well (I hope.) Now that I know what they look like, I guess I just have to find one with a 4 pin regulator. During the course of my search I rolled a little one off of a blazer and cut the plug to test fit with.

Since I was just there a few days ago I didn't expect much but I expanded my search to include ALL GM trucks, vans and SUVs. I found another monster on a Chevy Express van and other big ones that had no labeling on them. I found a 2002 GMC Envoy fully loaded with a DR44G. It was hung all wrong from what I expected. The belt didn't follow the path I'm used to seeing at all. Since it was not on a van; I can't understand why they mounted it on the drivers side under something else. The mounting bolts don't even go in from the front. They are short and mount from the right side.

The yard closes at 5 and it was 20 mins til; so I decided to come back when I was more sure of taking it. I may have to untangle it from all the other appliances and pull it just to test the Regulator plug and look for "standard" front mounting holes to see if it will mount "normal".

This little upgrade is becoming a project of it's own and I still can't even get in my back window. I gotta re-prioritize. lol

Which alternator is that a picture of? If it has DR44G stamped on the front that is the one you want (as long as it has the 4 pin connector).

Default Endgate

Back to the rear window and endgate lockout. I got it into my head that it has to be electric because the key entry will no longer lock/unlock the other doors. Most of my "impossible issues" so far have been very simple in resolution. I figured why not check the fuses and related fuses too? Couldn't hurt.

I know 95/96 are queerly wired so even mentioning which number to what is prolly different to everyone else. Here's my checklist:
Rear Window lock
Endgate Lock Switch
Liftgate Glass Release
Keyless Entry

That was all in one fuse along with Dome, Courtesy Lights and Horn. I already know they work fine. If it is not electrical why don't the doors lock & unlock as they have done before?

The "Endgate" Saga continues ...
