Please help! I bought a 98 blazer the original owners said it just stopped going into 3rd gear. one day while she was stopped at a light took off no 3rd.... I found that when I got it home and was replacing the battery that the battery cable had corroded (was half gone) and ate threw a metal air tube coming from the exhaust. So I Replaced the battery cable, the battery, and the tube coming from the exhaust. im Wondering can the damage from the battery cable Grounding out and The giant hole it ate into the tube cause some kind of damage to the tranny? When I put it in drive it goes into 1st, 2nd fine but 3rd acts like it wants to go but it just kicks then just revs high... same when I do it manually 1-2 fine, 3rd just revs high. Ive checked the fluid its fine, and the fuses they are all good. ???? Any help would be appreciated

Welcome to the forum. As christine_208 posted is most likely the issue you are having. One of the most common issues experienced with this transmission model. The battery cable is not likely the cause of what you described. Unfortunately this kind of repair would require transmission overhaul or replacement. Good luck.
