Hard time starting; need advice!!
Hey everyone. So my blazer recently started having trouble starting up. It takes a solid 4-5 seconds of cranking to get it running. I did a fuel pressure test and primed it, i immediately noticed that the pressure reached 60 psi but started to drop pretty quickly. I'm wondering if it's time to change my fuel pump. I have 150k miles and i believe i still have the factory pump. My question is; is it really the fuel pump or is it a different issue? I'm tight on money right now because i'm a student, so i want to try and get it right the first time. Thanks!
It's a 2001 4wd 4d.
I do apologize for the inconvenience but could you explain to me the process of doing the complete fuel pressure test? I did do a pressure test and it doesn't hold pressure after I prime it. It goes up to 60 PSI and then immediately starts dropping. I'm also unaware of what a sticky is and where to find it, im quite new to the forum so my apologies.
No apologies needed, we are here to help you fix your truck.
Here is the “sticky”:

The idea is to first see if you hold proper pressure at the schrader after key on. We alsready know that you have failed that test so now the question is where is the problem. You go next to the fuel filter and retest. That will tell you if your problem is in the fuel tank or up at the plenum.
I am the proper diagnosis and targeted fix guy. There are others that like to pick parts to replace on a best guess basis but that’s not my thing.Half the time it’s not even parts but wiring or connectors. I helped another member here recently that replaced his fuel pump which is a nasty job and had the same problem afterwards. It turned out to be a wire from the relay to the pump. Nice guy, easy to work with but it’s a shame that we didn’t avoid the unnecessary part replacement with trynostics first.
