new alt

Default new alt

im going to be installing a new alt in my 98 blazer soon and im just not sure on 1 thing. how do i remove the belt? i know everything else i need to except that lol

you will have to release the tension of the tensioner. it is a pulley that is on a pivot. i believe its center of engine, at the bottom of the engine. will have to put a socket on it and crank it and it will remove the tension on the belt. look at the belt routing on sticker in engine compartment.

When you use a socket on it does it just move the tensioner over a little or loosen the bolt holding it on?
sorry im the worst when it comes to the engine part lol

if you are looking at the engine, i think you move it counter clock wise, and it will pull the tensioner up to the right..

Yup... I use my 1/2" breaker bar with a 1/2" to 3/8" adapter to relieve the belt tension.
