Default Pop and nothing

I changed out my fuel pressure regulator on my 02 and once everything was back together i tried to start it and all there was is a pop. I tried the starter relay thinking maybe it shorted out and it just did it again. Is it possible that my starter just so happened to go bad at the same time? Ive checked and the battery has good charge and everything is plugged back in. Its not engaging at all as in turning the motor.

One not all that uncommon possibility is that you have FOD. Foreign Object Damage. While you had the top off the intake a nut or washer fell into one of the exposed intake runners. When you turned it over the first time the valve in that runner opened allowing the FO into the cylinder. Then when the piston came back up it bent the connecting rod, punched a hole in the piston, bent a valve, cracked the head, or all 4.
Best way to check for FOD is to remove all the plugs and run a bore camera into each cylinder. HF has them for $60 with Coupon Code: 31974217 til 2/28/18.

Another completely different and way less painful possibility is that your under hood light ran your battery down while you were working on the engine.
Try giving the battery a charge, It may have been dead when you first tried and after sitting with the light off for a bit recovered somewhat. Test it with a DMM. Should show over 12.5 volts.
