TRANNY HELP
I HOPE SOMEONE CAN HELP ME MY TRANNY IS SLOW TO SHIFT FROM 1ST TO 2ND I HAVE TO LET OF THE GAS PEDAL FOR IT TO CHANGE THEN IT DOES FINE AFTER THAT ALSO MY SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT HAS NOW CAME ON I CHANGED THE FILTER AND TRANS FLUID ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO
Couple of things.
Did you make sure you pulled out the old filter gasket before you put the new one in?
Did you top off the fluid level? To check tranny fluid drive the truck for 20 minutes, park on flat level ground, leave the engine running and check the fluid level. It takes 1 pint (1 quarter of a quart) from the bottom of the cross hatch on the tranny dip stick to the top of the cross hatch. Make sure the tranny is full when warmed up. After you add fluid, repeat test.

If not, it could be a host of things.
In order of likeliness.
T.V. Cable- what year was your truck again? Nevermind, '98 didn't have a tv cable.
Governor- you got a piece of dirt in it.
Trottle lever & bracket assembly
valve body
oil pump assembly or case.
