Default Transmission Drop Short Cut?

I have been wondering if it is possible to drop the transmission with the transfer case attached? I have a `94 s-10 Blazer (1st Gen.) and have pulled the trans. before the "right" way but it seemed to be difficult to deal with the transfer case. I figured that since you have to slide the transfer case back 8" to get it off of the tranny anyway, why not just lower the front of the tranny and slide the back of the transfer case off of the "torsion bar crossmember". Then you can deal with the transfer case on the ground. If anyone had success with this let me know. Thanks, Jeff.
