Just a tip to recoup some cash I sold my cats off my Landrover when I parted it to this place We buy scrap catalytic converters Nation Wide! Prices Updated Monthly on our Catalog. and ended up making like $180 off of them they were huge. They have a catalog you can view to see what yours is worth. I sent them pics they sent me a label and about a week later I got my check in the mail.

The cat shouldn't make it louder. The muffler is downstream, and that should handle the noise.

As abig84 said, universals aren't OE quality. I wouldn't call them garbage, but 3 years and 30k miles is about what you should expect to get out of aftermarket parts. If for no other reason, the welds tend to rust out after that. They just don't make aftermarket exhaust or cats with premium steel. If they did, the cost would be much higher.
3 years gives me plenty of time to get a quality bolt on and fix it my self next time.

as for the sound it is most def louder, very loud now, almost to loud...

Over time i guess it was getting clogged and i didnt notice the sound dying off.

I really lucked out on my direct fit. My wife's ex is a manager for a converter company. 100 bucks.

(not mentioning a name, for obvious reasons)
