The ease of getting to the bell housing bolts is a major plus of a BL and one of the reasons I like mine. Jacking the engine up ruining that is about pointless in my book. I know holley and a few others are making aftermarket pans for these things so its only a matter of time a modded one comes out. My problem is everything is still a big question mark on the first gen 4x4s, I been looking for 2 weeks about putting a LM7 in my 87 and cant come up with a straight forward answer yet. I'll prolly just wind up selling the 5.3 since it was free and use that money to rebuild this gen 1 5.7 and keep it TBI.

They dyno'd the stock 4.3 at I think 140hp at the wheels. They did not finish the install of the 5.3 yet. Those motor mounts sure looked liked at pita.

Was over 300 hp to the wheels, maybe 313 somewhere in there. Sounded pretty good.
