Default Powerplants - Engines

So I was reading about some future cars, from an autoshow and got to thinking. What is the purpose of the 4.3 v6? I know that it gives more power because its of larger displacement, but there was a car (still googleing to find it) that had a 4.2 v8 that was making over 300hp. This had me thinking to why they did not put a small v8 in our blazers rather than a large v6?

*the audi series 4.2L v8 makes about 420hp*

by having the 4.3L v6 , you can say you have the biggest v6 engine ever built in north america (from the factory)

or you can say you have the smallest v8 (4.2L)

what sounds better???

excluding the 5.8L from 1966
that would be in terms of liter.but i would bet the newer 4.3L would have more horsepower. that would be my input

The 5.8L v6 was not the largest production v6 engine for GM. And with the 478M V6 (that's 7.8L) being rated at 225 Net-HP @ 3400RPM & 410 Net-FT.LBS @ 1440RPM in 1966 numbers (gross was 254HP & 441FT.LBS)... About the only thing you got right in that drivel was the 'newer'. If you want to research the facts, check out this guy's site.

The 702 looks crazy... there were a few trucks on youtube running them.... they put out some torque....

This also lead to about 30 minutes of youtube "crazy engines"
