haha chris. my idea was holding on to this for a bit till about september, then selling it and getting another blazer. But I do want to let everyone know its going good now. Just have to turn on the electric fuel pump, and then i put my foot to the floor and turn the key. So far its fired up everytime.

Seriously, motors like this require constant tinkering to run right, from tinkering with the carb to adjusting the timing, you gotta be handy with these motors.

If the engine is properly tuned and the distributor/carb are functioning properly, it won't require any more 'tinkering' than an FI engine. Since the engine has an aftermarket cam installed, the distributor timing and centrifical advance curve will need to be tweaked. The carb will need to be jetted for proper air/fuel mixture, the vacuum secondary spring pressure may need to be adjusted and the choke will need to be adjusted. If it has a mechanical secondary carb on it get rid of it and put a vacuum secondary carb on it. Mechanical secondary carbs are worthless on a street driven vehicle. After that you should be able to press the gas pedal down just enough to set the choke, turn the key and it should fire right up every time when cold. After it's warm you should be able to just turn the key without hitting the gas and it should fire right up.
