Default Replaced OEM Air Shocks with Monroe Air Shocks

As the title says, I replaced the 21 year old OEM air shocks in my 2000 GMC Jimmy Diamond Edition with the Automatic Leveling System. The main difference between the OEM and Monroe Air shocks were the air fittings. The Monroe shocks uses a threaded compression air fitting where the OEM fitting was a tapered push on fitting. I was able to remove the push on fitting from the airline ends and utilize the Monroe fittings to connect the factory air lines to the shocks. What i did not realize was the OEM compressor was running but not delivering any air to the shocks. I traced the problem to no air being delivered from the pump. The compressor itself is inside a cavity of the right rear quarter panel. At this point I took the car to the local dealer to confirm that the compressor is faulty or a loose air connection at the compressor. The diagnosis was that the compressor was faulty and is obsolete from GM. I was able to locate a new OEM compressor on Ebay and will have the compressor by Friday. I was able to pressurize the air shocks by connecting the Monroe manual inflator valve to the OEM tee fitting. Charged the shocks to 90 PSI and pressure held steady. I also sprayed all the pressurized air fittings with soapy water to check for air leaks; and did not find any. I should have it all back to factory operating condition by the end of the week. Update: New compressor is installed and is working perfectly. I took the old compressor and bench tested it and it was not putting out any air. I took the head off of the compressor and the crank cover. The piston was loose as a goose in the cylinder bore. At this point I gave up the idea that I could repair the compressor and have a spare. It is now in the trash. Hopefully the new compressor will last another 20 years.

I took my entire dash out to replace this stupid thing (GM 52494022).




It is supposed to look like this.


Hopefully this fixes my heat issues.

I mounted a set of 2000 Suburban seats into my 83. Now to do the seatbelt delete and see if the 2000's console will fit.

You might think about a steering wheel upgrade in the future, too. That one looks like it came from an old Massey-Ferguson tractor. It doesn't exactly match your plush new seats.

I'm just messing with you. But I really would hang that one on the wall like the art that it is, and get something a little more comfortable.

It's your ride, though, so take my opinion for what it's worth.

And the steering wheel is still ON the 67... the 83 also has a stock steering wheel.
