Pretty much the same.

I used a hammer on a block of wood against the tri-pot housing and it came out with several strong blows.

The biggest difference is the installation because the inner end is a female splined end that goes onto a maled shaft. I left my shock attached which made it a tad harder to align square to the male shaft which had some vertical and lateral play in it. Once it was aligned it went in easy and I could here it snap in place.

One trick I used that I only learned in the last year was to orient the retaining snap ring on the male shaft so that the opening is in the 12 o'clock position. This helps keep the snap ring from binding when being engaged.

Not today, but in the last week or so. Hung two deer in a tree that my wife and son shot. Gutted, skinned and bagged. Quartered them up a few days later due to a small bobcat taking a liking to my wife's deer's hind quarters and put them both in cooler. Used the winch on both going up and coming down. Then used the Blazer to drag the coolers, one at a time, to get them close to the "extended" drive way. Back my truck up to the coolers and used ramps to get them in the back of my truck. They stayed there for a couple of days until it was time to do the processing. Meat is now, finally, in the freezer, bones and whatnot in the forest. Will make sausage and dog food in another week or so. I'm wiped out!

Oh, didn't get my elk this year. Too hot, dry and windy. Also, the Forest Service let the ranchers keep their cattle on public land way too late this year...in my opinion. Freshish cow patties and tracks all over the place in prime elk country. I came home more than upset. But it was a wonderful camping trip in the middle of Nov!

Today I replaced the tensioner and serpentine belt. It had started squealing.

I did a test by squirting water on it which caused the noise to go away. According to the Gates and Dayco tech info that indicated a misalignment rather than a tension issue. The tensioner was according to the manual still within spec with respect to the amount of deflection. However when the engine was running, the tensioner was oscillating about its pivot axis. I checked the idler pulley for slop and there was hardly any. The pulley on the tensioner was a little loose but it didn't seem like that much.

But I went ahead and replaced the belt and tensioner and all is now well. The new tensioner is not oscillating. I suspect this could have caused the misalignment issue.

For once I took pictures before and after the installation and after the first time I restarted the engine to record the initial position of the tensioner so that I can compare to the future. I added some witness marks with a Sharpie to help with this.

I'll carry the old belt as an emergency back-up in case it ever broke when I was in the woods.

Today I installed a repaired side valance for my drivers side front seat. The tab that held it in place had broken. I had tried to repair it before by welding it with acetone but it was not strong enough. This time after welding the tip back on I created a slurry of shavings of ABS in acetone and added a later of fiberglass. I also added a couple small pieces to the sides to reinforce it. I suspect this was a problem because the service replacement part that GM had for this used screws to hold it in place.

The inside of the whole valance. The repaired tab is the one on the left.

The repaired tab right after I reattached the part that had broken off. The circled area shows where it had broken.

The fully repaired tap with the clip on it. I had also applied a layer of fiberglass over the top of the end and attached/welded it in place with a slurry of ABS dissolved in acetone. You can see on the sides where I also welded on a small strip of more ABS to reinforce the tab.
