Installing Trans Cooler 2001 Blazer
I am thinking about installing a trans cooler but first i wanted to know if anyone else has and how did they modify this.. the radiator has a built in trans cooler the 2 lines that go to that i would take off and attach to the aftermarket trans cooler correct?. and what would i use to plug the existing holes in the rad? i was thinking a stubby bolt with the correct thread .
Been discussed on quite a few occasions.
Use the upper radiator hose and just splice it in.
I like to make my own brackets to mount the cooler, however it is very easy to use the zip ties that come with it to mount it directly to the front of the condenser.
I recommend B&M SuperCoolers. They have a viscosity bypass that will not over cool the fluid which is bad for a computer controlled transmission. If the fluid is over cooled, the PCM will slip the torque converter to heat the fluid back up which will decrease your mileage.
