Default Rear Defog Wiring

Anyone ever try to reattach the wire for the rear defog to the rear window? Can it be done?

FYI - A Mechanic from a dealership said they would clean the parts and mix copper filings with a strong epoxy and reattach. Haven't been able to try as weather has been to cold.

If this is the wireing that runs thru the window itself, I had some fair results using a 35 watt soldering iron I use for eletronics to resolder the flat mesh. Remember that gravity works, and too much solder will run back on you! By going at it lightly and keeping the heat at a minimum, you can get the lines to connect. It appears that they do corrode as the lead in the solder returns to lead oxide and thus the connection will go bad. I find this alot in older amps that I repair and used this method to repair my defroster system.

Hope that this helps..

Wade
