I loved my Blazer but it was constantly one thing after another with keeping it in good running condition. I can't handle anymore of it. I'll probably get a diesel pick up in a few years to compliment my car. I think a truck of some sort is always nice to have around when you need it.

I think I'll chime in here....glad you took the TDI plunge! I have an 01 Beetle TDI which I purchased brand new...it just flipped 200,000 miles. I have had NO issues from day one! Routine maintenance....timing belt, water pump (I hope they did your water pump at the same time 'cause it's the same labor charge since it's driven by the timing belt), filters-fuel, air, cabin air, did starter and alternator last year, I'm on my 4th set of glow plugs. Don't let anyone tell you that you HAVE to stick with certain certain glow plugs...that's hogwash. I've had the original Bosch, then Champion, then Beru, and now DieselRX. I'm even running my original brakes and clutch (my commute is 100 miles round trip). Had to change out the AC compressor 3 or 4 years ago due to a valve inside failing but it was easy to change. My best mileage was 53 and my worst is 47. Currently in TN diesel is the same price as gas....I fill up every two weeks. If I drive my 01 GMC Jimmy 4x4 I'd have to fill up every week or more! Check out the tdi club forum for great info on the Jetta/Golf/Beetle/Passat TDI's.

Not bad. When the timing belt was done, the kit came with a water pump, so I'm covered there. Plus, they gave me a warranty on parts and labor. Can't beat a warranty. Funny you speak of glow plugs, I need to replace one of mine. My check engine light has been on for a little while now. If it wasn't raining every day, I would have already replaced it. I feel the same way about a commute. We can go forever on 1 tank of gas. Plus, our ALH engines were the best diesel engines that VW has ever made. So glad our VW's don't have DPF's! I've heard how terrible they are. I'm guessing you're a TDI club forum member? I've been a member for several weeks now. Learned a lot through forum posts and diy's since then. Great place for knowledge, just like how I've learned a lot from this forum. Great group of guys at both places.
