Roof rack installation

Default Roof rack installation

I have a 94 chevy blazer full size ive had for about 2yrs now, i went to the juny yard n purchased a roof rack but is having issues with installinng... Dont really wanna drill holes in my roof due to it may leak. Thought about using a bondo/glue but dont know how well it may hold


any suggestions....

3m double sided molding tape would probably be your best bet, that stuff is extremely strong if applied in the correct way.

I'd recommend 3M VHB tape, we use it at work and it's the strongest tape I've ever seen.

i believe that's what my blazer's trim pieces were held on with. judging by the 3 hours it took to remove completely, i'm thinking it's a safe bet!

FWIW, I drilled holes in my roof for a new rack and after leaving the headliner off for a week or so of really heavy rain, I saw no leakage. Plus, the holes allowed me to put some metal brackets inside as well as bolt it down for a stronger attachment.

However, if you're doing it more for looks instead of function, the 3M tape might be a better choice. It should be plenty strong enough to hold down the rack but I'd be nervous if you ever attached anything heavy to it. Plus you could remove it if you didn't like it.
